Delegates will “keep in step with the Spirit” at Western Music Institute.

by Neil Smith, Territorial Music Secretary –

WMI delegates perform during the popular mid-week festival.

IN TUNE is the theme for the 2010 Western Music Institute (WMI).

Using the Scripture from Galatians 5:25, “Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit,” WMI chaplain, Captain Matt Madsen, will lead daily Bible studies and devotional times.

Sealed order Bible studies will again be part of the timetable, and will allow participants to spend some quiet time with the Lord and in his Word.

Special guest for this year is Bandmaster Carl Saunders. Carl is the bandmaster of the Cardiff Canton Band, Wales, and is also a renowned cornet soloist.

The WMI schedule will continue to be demanding and very busy, but in all that “busyness,” the real intent is that delegates will become aware of what God has in store for them. We hope that students will return to their corps with a new sense of purpose—taking the skills they learned and putting them into practice.

WMI ministry teams will venture out into the corps of the Southern California Division during Sunday morning, Aug. 8, and close the day listening to and sharing with newly appointed Territorial Leaders Commissioners James and Carolyn Knaggs.

Public events will include the annual soloist recital and mid-week festival of music—times and dates will be announced soon.

We encourage you to support our young people and staff in prayer as we prepare for this exciting annual event.
