Recently, the women’s auxiliary of The Salvation Army’s Sunnyvale/Mountain View Corps (Calif.) held their annual fundraiser for children—a benefit concert and reception—at the Los Altos First Baptist Church. Pianist Heidi Hau, daughter of an auxiliary member, performed at the concert, which attracted more than 320 people and raised over $8,000.

In attendance were Majors Joseph and Shawn Posillico, Golden State divisional leaders, and Major Judy Smith, divisional secretary for program, who led The Salvation Army band that played prior to the piano concert.

Funds raised will benefit children who want to attend the Joyful After School Program and those who hope to go to summer day camp or Redwood Glen camp. The after-school program offers music lessons on various instruments, tutoring, troop meetings, along with crafts and games. Summer day camp is an extension of this program, with field trips.

The women’s auxiliary, led by Phyllis Dorricott, is donating proceeds from the concert to scholarships for these children’s programs and to special events for social service clients.

Captains James and Joyce Lee are corps officers in Sunnyvale.
