Winning photos help build online resource.

On June 17, 2008, the Phillips Group and National Headquarters announced three grand prizewinners of The Salvation Army photo competition, which included Jim Sparks of the Pasadena Tabernacle Corps with his photo titled “Band Boys,” The photo was seen on the cover of the May 5th issue of New Frontier. Sparks took the picture while on a band trip to the Southern Territory in the small city of Macon, Georgia. “The band was waiting to start a parade when I saw the stoop that looked interesting,” explains Sparks. “I quickly gathered a few bandsmen and got a lucky shot.”

The competition was conceived in order to build and maintain an active library of photos from across the country that will be available on the online Red Shield Toolkit— https://www.redshieldtoolkit.org–as a resource for all Salvation Army units. The Red Shield Toolkit includes many other stock photos in categories of disaster relief, youth services, summer camp, adult rehabilitation, housing, evangelism, homeless outreach, music programs, Christmas angel tree, and utility assistance.
