A capacity crowd of 1200 joined the Sacramento Salvation Army in honoring Sister Bridget McCarthy as she was presented the William Booth Award.

As president and CEO of Mercy Healthcare Sacramento, Sister Bridget was both nominated and honored by her colleagues for her outstanding contributions to the local community. In her years of leadership at Mercy Healthcare, she has promoted strength and unity, adding richly to a reputation for quality medical service to those unable to afford it otherwise.

Sacramento City Coordinator Captain Clement Leslie said “Sister Bridget and Mercy Healthcare are excellent choices as they both epitomize the essence of The Salvation Army and its mission.”

Sponsored by the Army’s Advisory Organization, the yearly event is designed to report on the Amy’s progress during the year and recognize a leading business organization whose executive shows interest in the community.

During the luncheon, a slide show depicted the parallel work and achievements of Mercy Healthcare and the Sacramento Salvation Army. It began with the hospital’s opening in 1896 and concluded with the assurance that the goals of Mercy Healthcare would change only when beneficial to those it aims to serve.
