Joyful noise and beautiful music rang off the rafters as mellifluous youthful voices competed recently at The Salvation Army’s Hawaiian and Pacific Islands Division’s Divisional Singing Company Competition.

Four junior choirs shared their vocal talents as an enthusiastic audience became the appreciative beneficiary of the wonderful renditions of two selections sung by each choir. All groups were required to sing a compulsory song and another song of their choice.

The first place award was given to the Leeward Corps. The same corps was also the division’s representative and eventual winner at the annual territorial competition in 1999. Other corps competing included the Hilo Temple Corps, the Ka’ùluwela Mission Corps and the Lahaina Corps.

The Leeward Corps (Captains Kyle and Lisa Smith, corps officers) will now compete at this year’s territorial competition during Commissioning weekend.
