Intermountain women mix it up!
by Wildonna Rich, Major –
Two hundred women from the Intermountain Division came together in Denver for a time of refreshment, fellowship, and challenge at the Divisional Women’s Ministries Conference led by Major Ronda Gilger, divisional Women’s Ministries secretary.
Wearing nametags sporting everything from wooden spoons to half-eaten cookies, the women really became enthused about the weekend’s cooking theme; the gift of a new cookbook with recipes contributed from Army women around the country was an added blessing.
Lt. Colonel Debora Bell, territorial secretary, Women’s Ministries, was the featured speaker for the weekend and reminded the ladies that following God’s recipe for living helps us avoid disaster, be satisfied, and enjoy the treats of Heaven one day.
Rose Mertz, another featured speaker, brought the Saturday night address and reminded women that God is all-powerful and can rescue us from the trials and pitfalls of life.
A wide variety of workshops and Bible classes were offered on Saturday morning. During the afternoon ladies were invited to enjoy a kitchen boutique, or attend craft classes and make items to take home. Saturday evening they were encouraged to don their best muumuus and grass skirts to enjoy a luau dinner. A performance by Instruments of Praise, a Christian hula group, was a highlight of the dinner.
Sunday morning’s worship service was a great blessing; many of the women made dedications and re-dedications to the Lord at the altar.
The weekend was a great success, and helped women know and understand the ingredients that make up a life richly blessed by God.
