Herberger receives ‘William Booth’ award

The Metropolitan Phoenix Advisory Board recently presented long-time Salvation Army supporter Katherine “Kax” Herberger with the William Booth award at the annual awards dinner. A member of the Phoenix Advisory Board since 1961, Kax is an emeritus member of the Army’s National Advisory Board.

Former National Commander Com-missioner Robert Watson (R) presented Herberger with the award. Joining the 250 guests were former Southwest Divisional Commanders Lt. Colonels Mervyn and Shirley Morelock (R), Colonels Bruce and Dorothy Harvey (R), and Colonels Donald and Esther Sather.

Together with her husband, Robert Herberger, Kax helped establish the Phoenix Art Museum, Herberger Theater and The Salvation Army Herberger Center, the site of Southwest Divisional Headquarters.
