El Comité Cross-Cultural Ad Hoc del Territorio Oeste se reunió recientemente, por primera vez, dirigido por el Sr. Geir Engøy, Secretario de Ministerios Cross-Culturales, y por el Tte. Coronel Raymond Peacock, Secretario del de Programas. The Western Territorial Cross-Cultural Ad Hoc committee convened recently for the first time, facilitated by Geir Engøy, Cross-Cultural Ministries secretary, and Lt. Col. Raymond Peacock, Program secretary. Deliberations included subjects as seen from a multi angle. “This includes ethnic, cultural, linguistic, generational, and other parameters for boxes into which we tend to put people,” stated Engøy.

Fifteen officers and soldiers attended–representing some of the 20 languages in which the gospel is preached in the West. “We met to identify some of the things that separate–both now and in the past–people who are part of the body of Christ,” Engøy said. (I Cor. 12:12-27)

“The atmosphere was constructive and yearning for understanding. Reflecting this, at times the agenda was a guide rather than a taskmaster. Issues close to people’s experience kept popping up, and we felt the Lord’s guidance as we attempted to deal with those and build a firm foundation upon which to further cross-cultural ministries in the territory. We pray the Army increasingly and without prejudice will reflect God’s love for all peoples in all its dealings.”

Discussions included: ethnic recruitment, practical support of officers, exposure and training of administrative officers to culture-specific ministry issues, and identifying and confronting racism and prejudice in The Salvation Army.
