Volunteers recognized for their work with The Salvation Army

Coinciding with National Salvation Army Week, the Annual Awards Luncheon for The Salvation Army Clark County (Nev.) took place on May 14, 2010 at the Texas Station Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
Rob McCoy, Las Vegas County Advisory Board member, was Master of Ceremonies. Attendees included Advisory Board members and representatives of the Women’s Auxiliary, Fox 5, Channel 3, Nevada Power, and radio stations KSHP and KNUU. Jim Rogers, school chancellor emeritus, was the main speaker. Rogers is an advocate for effective education in kindergarten through college.
Major William Cobb, Henderson, Nev., corps officer, presented the ìOthersî award to Dr. Jim Reid for his continuous efforts to put ìothersî first. Majors Robert and Rhonda Lloyd, Clark County coordinators, presented the ìPartner in Missionî award to Robert Weaver for his advisory board involvement.
Mary Vail and Harriet Bernard received awards for their behind-the-scenes work in the Make a Difference Day and Coats for Kids programs in southern Nevada.
Former client and current employee Karen Madsen shared how The Salvation Army helped give her a second chance in life. The kindness shown her in a time of need meant so much that she now works to do the same for others.
