Recently, the Cascade Division officially welcomed and installed Majors Donald and Arvilla Hostetler as divisional commander and divisional director of women’s ministries, respectively.

The ceremony took place during the Territorial Worship Arts Retreat held at Camp Kuratli. Commissioners Kenneth and Barbara Hood conducted the installation. Retired General and Mrs. Bramwell Tillsley, who were visiting the Portland Moore Street Corps, also attended, and Tillsley offered a prayer of dedication.

The Hostetlers, Central Territory officers on loan to the West, come to this appointment from the College for Officer Training at Crestmont (CFOT), where they served as CFOT leaders (training principal and director of campus services).

Many officers from around the division came to show their support and greet the new leaders. A combined corps band consisting of members from Salem, Eugene and Portland Tabernacle played for the meeting. Metro Advisory Board Chair Doug Fish and junior soldier Lizzy Johnston brought words of welcome, and Major Joseph Murray presented a special “goodie” bag for the Hostetlers, full of all sorts of amusing mementos related to the division, such as a University of Oregon hat and a Portland Beavers sticker.

The Hostetlers responded to the expressions of welcome and accepted their responsibilities as the new leaders of the Cascade Division. In closing, those in attendance joined in a prayer expressed in song: “For thy mission make me holy, for thy glory make me thine, sanctify each moment fully, fill my life with love divine.”
