The Hayward Korean Corps, led by Captains David and Ellen Oh, recently held a celebration in honor of the corps’ 12th anniversary. To help commemorate the event, members of the Del Oro divisional staff, the San Francisco Korean Corps, the Sunnyvale Korean Corps, the Sacramento Korean Corps and the Hayward English congregation joined the service.

During the celebration service, new members and leaders were welcomed to the congregation. Four new soldiers were enrolled: Brandon Kyung, Stewart Hwang, Young Joon Kang and Kyung Soon Kang. Del Oro Divisional Commander Major Linda Markiewicz and Captain David Oh presented the new soldiers with their uniforms.

Following six months of training classes, seven local officers were also commissioned: Poong Ja Chang, Songster leader; Kumchu Pak, Family League secretary; Joy Yoon, Family League chaplain; John Kook, Community Care secretary; Unsu Pak, welcome sergeant; Young Eun Lee, corps treasurer; Young Jin Yu, recruiting sergeant.

An ensemble from the Del Oro Divisional Headquarters, the San Francisco Korean Corps Songsters, and the Grace Korean Music Ministry led worship for the event in both English and Korean.

In conclusion, Markiewicz offered a sermon titled, “Let God Reign in Our Lives,” referencing 2 Timothy 1:6-14.
