MARTHA ELEANOR JAMES was promoted to Glory recently in Petersburg, Alaska. She was born to a Salvationist home, the niece of Field Adjt. Charles Newton (O.F.), with a devoted love of God and man. (Newton and his wife Belle were responsible for saving the village of Kake from alcoholism and despair, for which he was admitted to the Order of the Founder in 1944.) Martha James was a soldier of the Petersburg Corps for more than 40 years with a long service of over 60 years. She took with her a history that will be missed and never forgotten. Among her survivors is her grandson, Cadet Will Ware.
