Nick Prince: growing in Christ

Junior soldier finds that God is always nearby.

My name is Nick Prince. I am a junior soldier and youth band member at the Pasadena Tabernacle , Calif., corps, and I am looking forward to becoming a member of the youth chorus.

My mother was active in The Salvation Army, and my grandparents are also.

It was while attending Sunday school at Pasadena Tabernacle that I made the decision to accept Jesus and ask him to come into my life.

Being a member of The Salvation Army is very important to me because it helps me in many ways. I have friendships with Christian friends and their families. We have lots of fun together. Not only have I learned about Christianity and Jesus as part of history, but as a friend.

When my mom passed away, God was there to help my brother and me get on with our lives. I know that she is with God in heaven, and some day we shall be together again. Now when I feel sad, I talk to God (and at other times, too) but especially when I’m sad, he helps.

Today, God helps me every way—with school, sports, friendships, and learning to play the cornet. Some day I want to be like David Daws—he is a good player and a very good Christian.

Says Laura Henry-John, Youth and Community Services director, Pasadena Tabernacle Corps, Calif.: “Nick is a typical boy. We are delighted that he finds so much joy in The Salvation Army. From our own experience, we know that if one is willing, God can and will direct.”
