Clients and friends of The Salvation Army Sage House Adult Day Care, in San Pedro, California, recently enjoyed a Chinese New Year celebration. Captains Thomas and Joy Mui of the San Pedro Corps, along with women from the Home League, hosted the festivities at the center.

According to Sage House Director Patti Logan, participants welcomed the “Year of the Ram” in style with a program including authentic Chinese food, a fashion show with traditional folk dance routines, tai chi demonstrations, and Chinese music that had the seniors singing “Amazing Grace” in Chinese.

Several advisory board members including John Olguin, David Bond, Monica McFadden, Bernelle Harbert, Ireene Draghi and Judith Scoble volunteered their time and services. They were able both to enjoy the festivities and witness the success of their hard work and efforts to keep the vital senior program going strong.

Since its inception in 1996, Sage House has been providing quality care programs to seniors that include exercise, socialization, mental challenges with Harbor Adult School classes, nutritious meals and snacks, and most importantly, a good time.
