Majors George and Jeanne Baker have been selected by the Christian Ministries Training Association (C.M.T.A.) to serve as co-chairpersons for the 2003 GLASS Convention, scheduled for May 2-3, 2003.

The GLASS (Greater Los Angeles Sunday School) Convention will celebrate its 51st year in 2003 and this represents the second time that Salvation Army officers have served as the convention chairman–Lt. Colonel Donald Bell has also served in that role. The Bakers have served on the Board of Directors for C.M.T.A. since 1998 and will continue through the 2003 convention. Major Mario Reyes also serves on the C.M.T.A. Board of Directors.

This year’s convention theme is “Light The Fire Within Rekindling a Passion for Ministry,” and will take place at The Church On The Way in Van Nuys, California.

“This is a great opportunity for the training of leaders within the church and I strongly encourage both officers and lay leaders to advantage of the workshops, seminar sessions and resources that will be made available through this convention,” stated Major George Baker, divisional secretary for business in the Southern California Division. “C.M.T.A. has gone through a restructuring process and we believe that the 2003 convention will re-ignite the GLASS Convention and bring back the excitement and enthusiasm for ministry that the convention was known for in the 60s, 70s and 80s.” Baker continued.

A special track designed just for youth and young adults called “Next Step will be held on the Saturday and will feature praise and worship bands and other activities geared to the younger generations.

“You won’t want to miss this opportunity,” stated Major Jeanne Baker. “This is an excellent convention at an excellent price and offers a wide range of training opportunities for officers and lay leaders.
