Recently, over 100 golfers supported The Salvation Army at the Southwest Division’s Annual Golf Classic 2008. Desert Highlands Golf Resort in Scottsdale, Ariz., hosted The Salvation Army for the seventh year. With 27 foursomes and five corporations sponsoring the tournament, it was a huge success—raising nearly $45,000 to benefit Phoenix Maryvale Corps Youth Programs.

The Phoenix Maryvale Corps offers a homework and tutoring camp, Sunbeams and Adventure Corps and a youth clown ministry—all designed to help the youth of the community learn, grow and succeed. These programs promote care and concern for others, independence, and the importance of education.

Many of the golfers came from local area corporations and businesses, but some also traveled from states as far as Missouri and Colorado to participate. The Southside Management, Inc. team took first place in the tournament, followed by Arizona Public Service in second and Salt River Project in third place.
