After 23 years of service, Majors James and Lynn Rodal recently entered honored retirement.

Rodal was born in 1934 in Belleville, Ill., moving to Hollywood when he was 5. He attended Dana Lutheran College in Blair, Neb., followed by two years in the military. Mary Lynn Cook was born in Van Nuys, Calif., attended schools there and Valley Community College. They were married in 1959.

Before being called to officership, Jim worked in restaurant sales and Lynn in the catering business. In 1975, they entered training with the Companions of Christ, the first session at the Rancho Palos Verdes location. They were commissioned in June 1977.

They have served in 13 appointments: ten Adult Rehabilitation Centers; one Adult Rehabilitation Program in Anchorage, and one corps in Santa Monica, Calif.

The Rodals are the parents of three children: Linda Ann Stewart, John Mark Rodal, and Captain Cindy Lynn Dickinson, and four grandchildren.
