National Social Services Conference ventures north.

by Jeff Curnow –

The 2006 National Social Services Conference (NSSC) is scheduled for Saturday, March 25 through Wednesday, March 29, 2006. For the first time, the event will take place in Canada. While social services professionals from Canada and Bermuda Territory have always taken part in this conference, the conference location has rotated within the four U.S. territories.

The Westin Harbour Castle Hotel in Toronto provides the venue. The conference theme, “Passport to the Future: Moving people beyond the borders of the past,” allows for an interesting variety of sessions for the delegates.

Plenary sessions will include a Saturday Welcome Banquet and Sunday morning worship service, presented by the Canada and Bermuda Territory, a Keynote session, featuring Major Barbara Robinson, Ph.D., and the highly-anticipated awards banquet, which will honor innovative social services programs from the United States and Canada. Speakers at the plenary sessions will include Commissioner M. Christine MacMillan, Commissioners W. Todd and Carol Bassett and Dr. Barbara Williams-Skinner.

The deadline for registration is February 20, 2006. For more information contact your Divisional Social Services director. Make your plans to attend immediately.
