Horwoods Leave for Malawi; Promoted to Captain at Airport

En route from the Denver, Colo., airport to their assignment in Blantyre, Zambia and Malawi Territory, Lieutenants Ted and Debbie Horwood were promoted to Captain by Commissioner Peter H. Chang, territorial commander.

The Horwoods were informed of the promotion during a telephone conversation with Chang. Intermountain Divisional Commander Colonel Bruce Harvey, who accommodated the call, was with Ted and Debbie and their two children at the time.

In Malawi, Ted will serve as extension training officer, teaching classes through the College for Officer Training in Zambia and SALT college in Zimbabwe. He will also be responsible for a conference center in town, hosting officers for classes. Captain Debbie Horwood will serve as corps officer for the Blantyre Corps, which is attached to the conference center.
