In her first visit to the United States as the international leader of The Salvation Army, General Linda Bond will arrive in New York this week, having accepted an invitation from the American Bible Society (ABS) to be its guest speaker Sept. 9.

Bond will attend the ABS Leadership Luncheon and a “Gathering of 9/11 Commemoration” at the ABS Bible House Conference Center in New York City. The ABS is dedicating a new Freedom Bible during this event, which the New York Staff Band will also perform at.

“The Freedom Bible spells out what it means for us to accept God’s gift of freedom, and it is a Bible to energize and transform the lives of the captive and those fighting for freedom,” Commissioner Christine MacMillan said in her review of the new ABS Bible.

That evening, Bond will participate in the Eastern Territory’s Welcome of Cadets meeting at Centennial Memorial Temple before departing for London Sept. 10.
