The Salvation Army of Oakland, Calif., provided spiritual and emotional care to mourners who attended the memorial to the four officers who were slain in the line of duty. An Army canteen provided cold water donated by Alameda area Wal-Mart stores as well. Thousands attended the services.
The Salvation Army’s emergency disaster services (EDS) responded immediately to an explosion that rocked downtown Bozeman, Mont., reports Bozeman Corps Officer Major Hendrik Aalders, who stated the Army provided 900 meals, snacks, hydration and emotional and spiritual care to first responders and emergency workers. In addition, due to the frigid weather they supplied more than 60 pairs of socks and 30 hand warmers to the workers. Twenty volunteers assisted with preparing, serving, and delivering meals.
