Hawaii honors
volunteers
Leslie Wilcox and Mariellen Jones, co-founders of the Lokahi Giving Project were honored recently at the annual awards luncheon at the Ala Moana Hotel in Honolulu, as the Outstanding Volunteers of the Year.

Monterey Peninsula pitches in
Major Ted Lowcock, Monterey Peninsula corps officer, reports the corps held its first annual Job Fair. Held at the corps’ main campus, it was the Capstone Project for SA employee Zenola Evans’ college graduation requirements. Forty local employers were present and the building was full all day with those seeking jobs.

HOOD on board
Major George Hood, national community relations and development secretary, was voted in the Class of 2008 Board of Directors at the recent National Religious Broadcasters conference. There are now 107 members of the board.

Anaheim reaches out
From February 27-March 3, the Anaheim Red Shield Community Corps hosted a children’s evangelistic campaign. Evangelists John and Marilyn Baker presented “Creative Evangelism” and “Round Up at Three Cross Ranch” as they told the children about Jesus, incorporating pioneer history with the use of marionettes, games, western wear and prizes.

TSUNAMI AID CONTINUES
The Los Angeles Central Corps hosted “Mostrando Su Amor” recently, bringing in other churches from the area, raising $2,900 for the victims of last December’s tsunami in Southeast Asia.

Puyallup Women installed
The Puyallup Valley, Wash., Women’s Auxiliary recently installed officers for 2005: Mary Schuller, president; Sharon Yanasak, vice president; Diane Michaelis, treasurer; and Pat Bradstreet, secretary. Lt. Colonel Linda Griffin conducted the installation.

eDiets.com and TSA team up
The Salvation Army and eDiets.com, Inc., an online diet, fitness and healthy living destination, have teamed up to conduct the Second Annual National Healthy Eating Food Drive March 1-31, 2005. Taking place during National Nutrition Month, eDiets.com will again encourage its network of over 13 million health-conscious consumers to donate healthy foods that will be collected and distributed by Salvation Army locations nationwide.
