Riley Auditorium Dedicated at Gilmore

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA–Dedication of the David P. Riley Auditorium with (l-r) Lt. Colonel Sherryll M. Van Cleef, Amy Yardley (Riley’s granddaughter), Lt. Colonel Gladys Riley (wife of Lt. Colonel David Riley), Lt. Colonel Alfred R. Van Cleef, and Los Angeles Metro Advisory Board member John E. Flick.

Over 250 full time delegates, and many commuters, participated in the Southern California Divisional Camp Meetings at Camp Mt. Crags/Camp Gilmore. Lt. Colonels Alfred R. and Sherryl M. Van Cleef, divisional commander and director of women’s organizations, gave loving leadership, supported by the divisional staff and coordinator Captain Paul R. Seiler.

Captains Peter and Kerrie Farthing, corps officers of the Auburn, New South Wales Corps in the Australia East Territory, were featured speakers, sharing God’s message from their hearts.

On Saturday, Major Anne Pickup brought the People Count! Campaign into a more personal focus. After a time of recreation and fellowship, the David P. Riley Auditorium at Camp Gilmore was officially dedicated in memory of the late Lt. Colonel Riley, former divisional commander.

The Pasadena Tabernacle Songsters, led by S/L Bill Flinn, presented their “Return from Down Under Celebration Concert” on Saturday evening. Members shared testimonies of how God had blessed them on their recent tour of Australia.

The division’s Soldiers of the Year were honored, including Home League Secretary Martha Childs of the Compton Corps and Bandmaster Ed Freeman of the Tustin Ranch Corps.

On Sunday, Major Moses Reyes shared his testimony of “God’s Deeper Work in My Life,” reflecting on the recent events in his life, including open heart surgery.

The finale of the weekend was the Farewell to the Builders of the Kingdom, accepted candidates who were leaving for the College for Officer Training.
