Traveling tea in The Dalles
The Dalles, Ore., corps Women’s Ministries has started an outreach called a “traveling tea.” A group of women from the corps takes turns hosting a tea in their home the first Saturday morning of each month. The first tea got off to a good start: 13 women attended, and four were not regulars. Captains Paul and Rachel Chouinard are corps officers.

Phoenix helps homeless, elderly
The Salvation Army is one of 40 members of the Phoenix, Ariz., Heat-Relief Network for 2009, which collects donations of money and bottled water, provides shelter, and education on the dangers of heat exposure. Jim Puza, Southwest division service extension and disaster services director, credits the Army’s hydration stations around the city with directly aiding more than 13,400 people in 20008.

Esqueda featured in magazine
Captain Jerry Esqueda, El Centro, Calif., corps officer, was featured in Valley Women’s Magazine as one of Imperial Valley’s Forward Thinkers. The two-page article told how Esqueda found the Army, and focused on the good work he and his wife, Captain Vicky Esqueda, are doing in El Centro. Del Oro women getaway
Women from all over the Del Oro Division filled the Empire Lodge at Camp Del Oro with enthusiasm and anticipation as they gathered together for an Island Getaway day of retreat, reports Major Cindy Lowcock, Sacramento Citadel. Author and writer Cindi McMenamin challenged the women to refresh, refuel, and reenergize their souls.

Reed earns degree
Major John Reed, Southern Calif. Division secretary for business, recently earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Leadership from Azusa Pacific University. Congratulations, Major!
