The second International Literary and Publications Conference will be held April 22–29, 2005 at the Holiday Inn in Alexandria, Virginia, USA—just outside Washington, D.C., and within minutes of USA National Headquarters.

“The conference will enhance the Army’s literary and publishing ministry,” says National Editor in Chief and Literary Secretary Lt. Colonel Marlene Chase. “The purpose of the conference is to cultivate skills in writing and journalism, to train personnel in these fields and to help prepare for the decade ahead in our publications.”

Details of the conference will be forthcoming, but Army editorial and literary leaders and those involved in the Army’s writing and publishing ministry are invited to plan now to attend.

Internationally acclaimed author Philip Yancey will give the keynote address. Yancey’s latest book, Rumors from Another World, has just been released by Zondervan Publishing Company. C. McNair Wilson, author, director and actor, will present workshops on creativity. Planning is underway for a host of Army literary leaders to participate in the conference, sharing their expertise in facets of literature and art.

New Frontier Publications Executive Editor Sue Warner is a member of the planning committee, which includes Chase; Major Ken Wilson, assist. editor in chief, The War Cry; Major Keith Welch, Holland, Mich., corps officer; Dan Childs, Southern Spirit editor; and Warren Maye, Good News editor.

“It’s hard to believe that soon a decade will have passed since the last literary conference—something of a landmark event—was held in April 1994,” writes Commissioner W. Todd Bassett, national commander. “Now the General has approved that a second literary and publications conference be held and that interested delegates from all around the world be invited to participate in this influential and helpful experience.”

Watch for coming information and details about the conference and pray that God will equip and inspire the planners of this signal event so that it will result in his glory and that his kingdom will grow because of it.
