Portland Rose Festival Grand Floral Parade

Recently, The Salvation Army in Portland continued its long tradition of participating in the Rose Festival’s Grand Floral Parade—the largest single-day spectator event in Oregon—winning the Grand Marshal’s award for exceptional merit. Over 500,000 spectators viewed the parade, and KGW News Channel 8 televised it.

The Salvation Army float, Honoring Those Who Serve, featured a representative from each branch of the military in full uniform, along with Salvation Army officers, flag bearers and a WWI doughnut girl.

The Army’s float was made possible through the sponsorship of Shilo Inns Suites Hotels, Yorke & Curtis General Contractors, and CIDA, Inc.

More than 30 Salvation Army corps, volunteers and military representatives took part in the parade.
