Susanville Enrolls First Jr. Soldiers

by Lt. Dianne Doom –

History was made recently when seven young people became the first junior soldiers ever to be enrolled at the Susanville Corps in the Del Oro Division.

Divisional Commander (then) Major Charles Strickland officially declared the Susanville Corps open in December 1997. Having begun as a Service Extension ministry, it had made the transition to an outpost. Envoys Billy and Kay Carroll are now in charge.

During the enrollment, as the children recited their Junior soldier promise, they were asked, “Who are you making your promise to? Your leaders? Your parents? Your corps? They answered boldly and without doubt, “No! We make this promise to God!”

May God bless and keep these newest soldiers in the Salvation War.
