Sierra Del Mar welcomes Bond; O’Briens installed as leaders

As the sun began to set on a beautiful, autumn-like day in San Diego, it was the perfect setting for Sierra del Mar to welcome Commissioner Linda Bond to the division, and for Lt. Colonels Doug and Diane O’Brien to be installed by the commissioner as the new divisional leaders.

San Diego Citadel was filled with divisional corps officers, families, retired officers, Salvationists, Army employees and other guests who came to share in the special occasion. The joyous program was one of music and prayer that featured the Sierra del Mar Divisional Band, the El Cajon Timbrels, the United Singing Companies from around San Diego County, and the San Diego Citadel Songsters, which included the O’Briens.

Lt. Colonel Doug O’Brien was appointed the new divisional commander for the Sierra del Mar Division, and Lt. Colonel Diane O’Brien the new head of Women’s Organizations. The Sierra del Mar Division encompasses Imperial, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego Counties.

Lt. Colonel Doug O’Brien was assigned to San Diego as the divisional secretary five years ago, and most recently served as the president/principal of The Salvation Army’s Crestmont College. Lt. Colonel Diane was the director of campus services responsible for music instruction, campus food service and the Crestmont Conference Center.
