William Booth transformed the Christian Mission into The Salvation Army because he recognized the need for rallying the troops, mobilizing the forces and fighting the war on the frontlines

Today, across the nation, we are seeing a massive mobilization of troops from training camps to war zones, with battle clothes ordered and troops saying farewell to friends and family.

Many years have passed since Booth first rallied his troops, but his battle is still being fought–the aggressor and deceiver has not yet been defeated–but he, too, is mobile, moving in the darkness, preparing his troops.

As a Salvation Army we all have our role to play, some as infantry, some as generals–but we must all be prepared to rally around the frontline troops, giving them our support and encouragement.

On June 13 14, 2003 we will demonstrate this support to the latest group of Salvationists who will be ordained and commissioned to serve as our officers. They are the BELIEVERS; their session name professes hope for the world. As they prepare to march proudly behind the Army flag, we, too, should join in the celebration–knowing with certainty that the victory for this battle will be won.

I believe we shall win, if we fight together, support each other, celebrate together and pray together…

We shall win with the fire and the blood,
And the world to his feet we shall bring”
(William Hodgson)

Make your plans now to witness the dedication as men and women are ordained; celebrate with them as they are appointed to a battlefield and enjoy the pageantry of Salvationism.
