Charles (Topsy) Skon Johnson, Jr.

Longtime Salvationist of Kake, Alaska, Charles Skon Johnson, Jr., was promoted to Glory on March 4, 2006, from Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital, Sitka, Alaska. He was born on December 4, 1930 in the village of Kake. Charles attended Sheldon Jackson School in Sitka. He lived and worked in Juneau for many years, and in retirement returned to his home in Kake.

Charles was a lifetime member of The Salvation Army. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, reading and talking with friends. In recent years he enjoyed researching Tlingit history, particularly as it related to his family and the village of Kake.

He is survived by three sisters, Flora (Tom) Huntington of Juneau, Augusta (Chuck) Connelly of Flagstaff, Arizona, and Katie Davis of Kake, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held at the Juneau, Alaska corps.
