Ogden Corps continues vibrant ministry in Utah

With the first salvo of the Great Salvation War on June 4, 1887, Captain Maud Sharp opened the Ogden, Utah, corps. In the 118 years that have followed, Ogden has grown into a vibrant expression of compassion and caring to a community in need.

Serving Northern Davis and Weber counties, the Ogden Corps assists the community through an active family services outreach and a 26-bed men’s adult rehabilitation program. The corps averages 40 in attendance each Sunday, and the congregation is highly involved in its outreach programs.

Under the leadership of Captains Phyllis Pease and Lisa Smith, the SondayS’COOL program is growing and bringing new children to the corps each week. An active community care ministry (CCM) recently saw the addition of eight adult and six junior CCM members.

“The Ogden ARP is one of the most successful rehabilitation programs in Utah,” said Captain Rich Pease. “With an average graduation rate of 60 percent, the four phase program helps men to live clean and sober lives while addressing their spiritual needs as well. In the last 12 months 15 men have committed their lives to Christ through the ARP ministry.”

God continues to bless the Ogden Corps and ARP ministries with new avenues of outreach and the resources to do the most good in Northern Utah.
