Communities spread the word during annual week of recognition.

During National Salvation Army Week, corps and units of any size can grab people’s attention—bringing the Army’s name and work before the community. The following are some of the events being planned around the Western Territory.

Each year, the division receives a proclamation from the Governor for National Salvation Army Week and submits requests—well in advance of the week—to many mayors for local proclamations. Used for public relations and fundraising, the proclamations accompany press releases that provide information on special activities planned for the week—public awareness of The Salvation Army and all it represents is the goal.

Neighborhood volunteers will help the Tualatin Valley Citadel as they host a hot dog lunch for the community on May 11 – 15 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
