Korean TC to Address Prayer Breakfast

by Lt. John Yong Woo Lee –
LA Korean Corps Officer

On Sunday, June 8–the last day of the Great Victory Congress weekend–Korean Salvationists will gather together at the Hyatt Regency Hotel for a Prayer Breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. We will have breakfast, pray, fellowship, and simply set aside time to meet with God.

The meeting will begin with a warm introduction by Commissioner Peter H. Chang. The Los Angeles Korean Corps Band and a Gospel singer will accompany the breakfast. There will be testimonies by two delegates coming from Korea, and a video will be presented. We will have a time of prayer for the growth of Korean corps, the Western Territory, The Salvation Army and its leaders, and MISSION2000. A united chorus will sing special numbers. Colonel Lee, Sun-Duk, the Korea Territorial Commander, will be giving a message.

I know that through every part of this meeting, as well as the other parts of the big weekend, people will be blessed. I hope that many of you will join us in this time of prayer and fellowship.

While The Salvation Army holds many events and meetings, this Congress involves the whole Western Territory, so without any question, it will be one of the biggest! There will be officers and soldiers from many different corps, and there will also be people from outside the country who will all gather together in Long Beach.

For this kind of event to happen, time, effort, and expense are required. I have asked myself, “What is the result and the benefit from this meeting that it should require so much energy?” Didn’t Jesus say in Matthew 18:20 “For where two or three meet together in my name, I am there among them?” So I thought, “Even if this was a small group, it would have been successful and helpful. But why do we have to do all this to make a big group?”

But in the Bible, people have been blessed many times by holding big events. For example, in I Samuel 7:5, Samuel summoned all Israel to an assembly at Mizpah so that he might intercede with God. They prayed and confessed their sins. With God’s help, they defeated the Philistines. So I believe that, through this Great Victory Congress, many wonderful things will happen.
