Eastern Territory to host Scandinavian Heritage Conference
The Eastern Territory extends an invitation to those of Scandinavian descent to join in the territorial Scandinavian Heritage Conference, October 5-8, 2007 at Camp Ladore Lodge, Waymart, Pennsylvania.
For over 100 years, the Eastern Scandinavian Congress has been a mecca for those of Nordic ancestry. It originated at Belmont Hill in Worcester, Mass., where the Scandinavian divisions came together for a week of meetings. Delegates gathered from all over the territory and beyond. The Scandinavians also held children’s camps throughout the summer, where friendships developed that remain strong today.
This year’s theme is “A Scandinavian Christmas,” with festivities planned around the Christmas tree. Along with the traditional band and string band, there will be a holiness meeting, Lucia Fest, smorgasbord, and other special traditions.
