Don’t miss the return of the musical production at this year’s Commissioning.

On Saturday evening, June 11, during Commissioning 2011, a cast of cadets, officers and the Territorial Arts Ensemble will perform the musical Brengle: My Life’s Ambition, written by Colonel Edward Hobgood and directed by Joy Lee, territorial creative arts director.

With 10 original musical numbers, the production will walk through the life of Commissioner Samuel Logan Brengle (1860-1936), a champion in preaching about holy living. The story reveals a man driven by his ambitions to make a mark on the world through the power of words until he receives the gift of the Holy Spirit. After that moment of surrender, his life’s ambitions shift from seeking prestige and fortune to serving humbly and with a mission through The Salvation Army.

A man’s passion is contagious. The same Spirit that consumed Brengle can consume the heart of each believer even now, after the passage of almost a century. Come join in the celebration that may possibly inspire and encourage our soldiers to examine their lives and the Army’s ambitions.
