The day of victory’s coming!

Commissioner Peter H. Chang has announced that the USA Western Territory will hold its Great Western Victory Congress on the weekend of June 4-6, 1997, in Long Beach, Calif.

A new Congress office has been created at territorial headquarters, and plans are well underway for an exciting weekend of challenge and inspiration.

“We are looking forward to all that God has in store for us next June,” said Captain Kenneth Hodder, who has been appointed coordinator of the three-day event. “The opportunity to gather as the Body of Christ at a Congress is a special one, particularly when our international leaders, General Paul Rader and Mrs. Kay Rader, will be joining us.”

Hodder urged all Salvationists to start planning now for the festivities. He announced that, consistent with the ongoing People Count! effort, everyone is encouraged to vote for one of the proposed Congress logos by using the established hotline, 1-800-2COUNT4 (1-800-226-6864). “We want to know what people think,” said Hodder.

Beginning in August, the People Count! hotline will have information (in English and Spanish) on hotels, travel arrangements, and other topics of interest to delegates. The information will also be available on the Army’s web site (https://www.westweb.net/sal-army), and regular items will appear in the pages of New Frontier. Registration begins this fall.

“The most important thing to keep in mind,” he said, “is that Salvationists should begin praying for victory – spiritual victory. After all, we’re not just looking for victory in Long Beach next June, but for victory in every corps today. Those are the prayers that will make the Congress a real celebration of what God is doing in the Army.”
