Captain Fred Kim of the Santa Clara Grace Korean Corps in California reported on his mission trip to Africa in the May 19, 2006 issue of New Frontier. Before leaving Africa, he and his team visited an “end-of-the-world” church—in the bush, with no power or electricity. The pastor there has seven children, the youngest of whom suffered from malnutrition and could not walk even though he was 3-years-old.

In a recent communication to New Frontier, Captain Kim writes:

When we visited there the pastor with concern asked me to pray for him that he might walk again. With emotion we prayed and gave him what we had, which was four pounds of hot chocolate powder and children’s vitamins. When we took that hot chocolate powder to Africa, we wondered what we could do with it but believed anyway that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Two months later, we received an email from Africa from my mission partner that the boy could walk—because of that everybody rejoiced, the boy himself praised the Lord singing. This recalls the Acts chapter 3 account of the man, lame from birth, who started to walk when Peter said to him, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.”
No matter how small or insignificant it may be, if we give what we have in Christ’s name, then the miracle still happens. Praise the Lord!
