10 of West’s board members presented Certificate of Exceptional Service Award

An advisory organization member in each division across the U.S. was honored for exemplary service in The Salvation Army this year. While intended for presentation at the 2020 National Advisory Organizations Conference, the presentations were made individually due to the pandemic. 

The Salvation Army’s Certificate in Recognition of Exceptional Service is awarded to Salvationists and friends who meet the criteria: outstanding, distinguished, unusual and/or significant achievement in quality or length of service in or for The Salvation Army; high moral character and integrity; and compassionate response to human need.

The recipient is recommended to the territorial commander, citing the specific nature of the service rendered, with final approval given by the National Commander. 

In the Western Territory, 10 individuals were awarded as follows.

David Diers

David Diers

With eight years of advisory organizations service, David Diers is an ambassador for the Southwest Division. He is currently a member of the Southern Nevada Advisory Board, including multiple terms as its chairperson. In 2020, David Diers was presented the Certificate of Exceptional Service Award. 

Karyn Gramling

Karyn Gramling

With two years of advisory organizations service, Karyn Gramling is an ambassador for the Golden State Division. She currently serves as the Auxiliary President, having been instrumental in helping start the first Women’s Auxiliary in Silicon Valley. In 2020, Karyn Gramling was presented the Certificate of Exceptional Service Award.

Stace Grund

With 26 years of advisory organizations service, Stace Grund is an ambassador for the Northwest Division. He is currently a member of the King County Advisory Board, having previously served as chairperson, and is a recipient of The Salvation Army’s Others Award. In 2020, Stace Grund was presented the Certificate of Exceptional Service Award. 

Andrew Jameson

Andrew Jameson

With two years of advisory organizations service, Andrew Jameson is an ambassador for the California South Division. Jameson currently serves as a member of the LA Metro Advisory Board. In 2020, Andrew Jameson was presented the Certificate of Exceptional Service Award.

Ron McKnight

Ron McKnight

With 14 years of advisory organizations service, Ron McKnight is an ambassador for the Cascade Division. He currently serves as a member of the Portland Metro Advisory Board and Adult Rehabilitations Center Advisory Board. In 2020, Ron McKnight was presented the Certificate of Exceptional Service Award.

Dr. Nancy Pace

Dr. Nancy Pace

With 13 years of advisory organizations service, Dr. Nancy Pace is an ambassador for the Hawaii and Pacific Islands Division. She currently serves as a member of the Honolulu Advisory Board. In 2020, Dr. Nancy Pace was presented the Certificate of Exceptional Service Award.  

Alan Weakly

Alan Weakly

With 37 years of advisory organizations service, Alan Weakly is an ambassador for the Intermountain Division. He is currently a member of the Sheridan (Wyoming) Advisory Board, having previously served on the boards in Gillette, Wyoming, and Grand Junction, Colorado—including multiple terms as chairperson. In 2020, Alan Weakly was presented the Certificate of Exceptional Service Award. 

Anna Woods

Anna Woods

With five years of advisory organizations service, and 35 years as a volunteer, Anna Woods is an ambassador for the Alaska Division. She currently serves as chairperson of the Anchorage Advisory Board. In 2020, Anna Woods was presented the Certificate of Exceptional Service Award.

Gary Zanolini

Gary Zanolini

With 17 years of advisory organizations service, Gary Zanolini is an ambassador for the Del Oro Division. He currently serves as an executive committee member of the Santa Rosa (California) Advisory Board, having previously served as chairperson and vice chairperson. In 2020, Gary Zanolini was presented the Certificate of Exceptional Service Award. 

Joey Zumaya

Joey Zumaya

With eight years of advisory organizations service, Joey Zumaya is an ambassador for the California South Division. He currently serves as chapter president of the Ventura (California) Echelon chapter. In 2020, Joey Zumaya was presented the Certificate of Exceptional Service Award.
