Mrs. Sr. Major Etta Little (R) was recently promoted to Glory from her daughter’s home in Susanville, Calif.

Etta May Hyatt was born in Washington State in 1905, the fourth of six children. She married Jack Little in 1921. They felt the call of God to serve in The Salvation Army, but with two small children did not go through regular training. In May 1927 they were accepted as envoys and trained in the field under the supervision of the training college staff.

The Littles served together in five divisions. Some highlights were erecting the corps building in Ontario, Calif., where hundreds were served during the Depres-sion; and in 1934 serving on the front lines during the Long Beach Earthquake. They later opened the Redding Corps and helped in the Yuba City flood. Active officership came to a close in 1956 because of his health, and he was promoted to Glory in that year from Santa Cruz, Calif.

Etta later moved to Santa Rosa. In 1996, she moved to live with her daughter, Zetta. Even when unable to get out she was a faithful soldier and prayed for the work of the Army there in Susanville.

Besides her daughter, she is survived by sons Jack of Stockton, Calif., and Allen of Eugene, Ore.; four grandchildren, and many great and great-great grandchildren.

A graveside service was held at The Salvation Army plot at Cypress Lawn Cemetery in Colma, with Lt. Colonel R. Eugene Rice (R) officiating.
