Brenda Wilson Arnold, a faithful soldier of the Las Vegas Corps, was promoted to Glory on September 26, 2003.

Born Aug. 28, 1910 in Winnipeg, Canada, Brenda moved to Long Beach, Calif. and became a U.S. citizen. She entered The Salvation Army Training College in 1933, was commissioned with the Do and Dare Session, and held appointments at several California corps including San Francisco, Stockton, Long Beach and Redondo Beach.

In 1938 Brenda moved to Las Vegas and attended community college. She became a librarian in 1940 and worked as such until her retirement in 1975.

Because there were no Army corps in Las Vegas, she attended the Assembly of God church. When the Army reopened the Las Vegas Corps in 1945, Brenda helped establish it in the city.

In 1949 she married J. Lester Arnold. They started attending the corps in 1968, and together they participated in League of Mercy. Brenda served as corps pianist until 1992, and as a volunteer developed one of the finest corps libraries in the western U.S. In 1990, the new library at the Palomino location was named The Brenda Arnold Library in her honor. She also served as chaplain for the Home League and as corps secretary.

A celebration of life service was held at the Las Vegas Corps led by Lt. Colonel Jim Sullivan with Major Bill Lane assisting.

Brenda is survived by her husband, J. Lester Arnold, stepdaughter, Joyce Voage and stepson, Douglas Arnold.
