Mrs. Major Juanita Greholver
was peacefully promoted to Glory on December 2, 2001 from her son’s home in Vancouver, Washington.

Juanita Christy was born November 2, 1924 in Winding Gulf, West Virginia. Early in her life, while in a children’s home during the Depression, she committed her life to Christ and felt a call to be a missionary.

Juanita met her husband Tom Greholver in church. They married in 1944.

While at a Salvation Army funeral in Long Beach, Calif., Tom was convicted of his sin. Soon after, at the Pomona, Calif. Corps, both Tom and Juanita gave their hearts to the Lord.

The Greholvers served as assistants at the Long Beach Citadel Corps in 1961, and became Auxiliary Captains in Salinas, Calif. in 1963. They finished officer training in the Pioneer Session and were commissioned as Lieutenants in June 1967.

They then served in Fairbanks, Alaska, Pasco, Wash., and Klamath Falls, Ore. Later appointments were to Clovis, New Mex., Globe, Ariz., and Anacortes, Wash. Their last appointment prior to early retirement was Kelso, Wash..

Mrs. Major Greholver loved to work and minister to young children. She shared that love with her 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children: Penny Kinne, John, Charlene Bigelow, and Ronald. She also leaves two brothers, Charles and John Christy, and a sister, Urania Tarbet.

A memorial service was held at the Vancouver, Wash. Corps with Captain Donald Warriner and Rev. Aaron Knapp officiating. The graveside service was held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, Calif.
