This new year, the Mississauga Temple Band will trade the biting cold of Toronto for the Southern California sun as they bolster the ranks of the Army’s Tournament of Roses Band.
The Canadian group’s seven-day tour will include participation in the Rose Parade, a concert at Disneyland and several other appearances throughout the Los Angeles and San Diego areas.
The Pasadena Tabernacle will be the site of three performances throughout the week: a music festival at 7:00 p.m. Saturday December 28, participation in morning worship services on Sunday December 29, and a praise concert
following the corps’ annual New Year’s Eve smorgasbord at 7:00 p.m., December 31. (Dinner will begin at 6:00 p.m.)
Mississauga will also give a concert at the Long Beach Corps on Sunday December 29 at 6:00 p.m.
While in San Diego, the band will march along with the Sierra Del Mar Divisional Band in the Holiday Bowl Parade and give mini-concerts at Seaport Village and Horton Plaza, all on December 30.
Led by Bandmaster Gary Dean, the Mississauga Temple Band “is consistently one of the top corps bands in Canada,” said Pasadena Tabernacle Bandmaster Bill Gordon.
In 1995, the Mississauga Temple graciously billeted members of the Pasadena Tabernacle Band when they toured Canada. This year, the Pasadena band will return the favor by hosting Mississauga during the Los Angeles leg of their trip.
