Long Beach UNITED begins fourth season

Long Beach UNITED recently kicked off its fourth year of teen and young adult worship at the Long Beach Citadel Corps with over 150 youth from across the Southern California Division in attendance.

The San Pedro Temple Corps Worship Team led praise and worship and the evening opened and closed with the Christian Hip-Hop talents of Captain Luis “DJ Looy” Acosta (Long Beach Temple corps officer) and DJ Efechto.

Special guest, Captain Dianne Madsen, from the Puyallup Valley, Wash. corps, spoke about focusing on Christ and throwing away the ungodly things that take control of young people’s lives. The congregation participated in a time of commitment, where youth went to the altar to “get rid” of what kept them from Christ, sign their name to the “heart board” and spend time in prayer.

Reflecting on UNITED, Southern California Divisional Youth Secretary Captain Candy Stennett said: “UNITED provides a worship and fellowship experience where youth from all walks of life are made to feel comfortable. Seasoned Youth Pastor Lincoln Hawk knows the spiritual issues facing today’s youth and consistently invites speakers whose messages demand a contemplative response from all attending: tweenagers, teenagers and young adults. Finally, it is sheer delight for me to see youth from all over the division embrace one another as they are reunited with friends from other corps during the fellowship time that follows the worship service.”

Long Beach UNITED, a vision of Hawk, is a ministry of the Long Beach Citadel Corps and supported by Majors Glen and Linda Madsen, corps officers. Meetings occur once a month on a Sunday evening.
