The Western Territory’s multicultural department encourages officers and soldiers to attend the Ethnic America Network’s 7th Annual Ethnic Workers’ Summit, “Gateway to the Nations,” to be held in Seattle, Wash., April 19-21. Each year a different U.S. city hosts the summit; last year’s gathering in Atlanta, Georgia drew over 700 Christian workers from around the nation.

The theme, “Gateway to the Nations,” is based on the historic and present role of the cities of the northwest as entry points into North America for immigration. The event is a national summit for people involved in ethnic ministries and those wanting to get started. It allows participants to dream, plan and develop strategies to more effectively reach multicultural communities with the gospel.

Christian evangelist Luis Palau commented: “As an immigrant to the USA myself [from Argentina] I have such love and respect for all who seek to serve the Lord by reaching out to the tens of millions the Lord has brought to our country. ‘Gateway to the Nations’ should contribute greatly to reaching more people more effectively in these exciting days we live in.”
The extensive list of seminar topics includes biblical mandates for ethnic ministries, understanding the cultures around us, breaking down cultural barriers among youth, African-American churches, ministry to Native Americans, immigrant legal issues and strategies for sharing Christ with a Muslim.

The Ethnic America Network is a growing coalition of leaders from over 60 denominations and organizations who work to inform, motivate, encourage, train and link together those individuals ministering to America’s ethnic populations and those wanting to get involved in such a ministry.
