Major Joan Kilgore Craddock (R)

After 36 years of active service, Major Joan Kilgore Craddock has entered honorable retirement.

A fifth generation Salvationist, Joan was a cadet in the Sword Bearers Session, and was commissioned in June 1956. Her first appointment was to Billings, Mont., where she met Rodger Craddock. She was sent to the Liliha Japanese Corps in Honolulu, Hawaii, and also assisted in La Grande, Ore., Caldwell, Ida., and Camp Elephant Rock. She married Lt. Rodger Craddock, a member of the Faithful Session, on August 1, 1959.

Their appointments together included the Denver Harbor Light; Casper, Wyo., Phoenix Temple, Ariz., Eureka, Calif., and Grand Junction, Colo.

Due to Rodger’s poor health, after 25 years of service they retired in Eureka, Calif. Following his promotion to Glory in 1989, Joan returned to active duty, serving 11 years at the Northwest Divisional Headquarters as retired officers’ counselor, Silver Star representative and Women’s Organizations assistant.

She will reside at 450 Herrick, Eureka, CA 95503.

Major Craddock has four children: Donna and Richard Farfan; Rodger, Jr. and Dena Craddock, Robert and Sondra Craddock; and Darlene and John Stapleford. She has eight grandchildren.
