Western officers can complete bachelor’s degree from Nazarene Bible College.

by Mike worrell –

The College for Officer Training (CFOT) has recently negotiated an articulation agreement with Nazarene Bible College (NBC) to provide Western Salvation Army officers the ability to complete a bachelor’s degree in as little as two years. Known as the Advantage Accelerated Degree Program (or adult degree completion), the program builds on the officer’s completed AA degree from Crestmont. In the agreement, NBC has agreed to recognize the AA degree as fulfilling the 60 hours required for entrance into the program. Once admitted, the student completes the bachelor’s degree by taking one course at a time in six week sessions through the NBC online delivery system. Officers who have not completed their AA from Crestmont should contact NBC for further information.

Successful completion of the program leads to the Bachelor of Arts in Ministry degree with a major in Leadership and Ethics. Majors are also offered in Counseling for Christian Ministry and Christian School Education. Special accommodation has been made to provide three courses specifically designed for Salvation Army students. These courses, currently in development, are recommended and being developed in cooperation with qualified Salvation Army officers.

Nazarene Bible College began in the late 1960s as an institu-tion of higher education to prepare men and women for ministry in the Church of the Nazarene. As the concept and role of ministry has changed through the years, the educational offering has continued to grow to meet the demands of an increasingly diverse world. Today, NBC offers two degrees—the Associate of Arts in Lay Ministry and the Bachelor of Arts in Ministry, with a variety of majors designed to meet this growing need.

Nazarene Bible College is located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and is dually accredited by the North Central Association of the Higher Learning Commission, and the Association of Biblical Higher Education. NBC is thoroughly Wesleyan in theology, and provides a strong academic setting that integrates sound educational principles, faith development, and practical life skills. Graduates serve in a variety of ministries throughout
the United States and the world.
