A ribbon cutting ceremony recently opened The Salvation Army’s Mt. View Service Center and Outpost in East Anchorage. The program, a satellite of the main family services program located downtown, will operate a food pantry and referral center three afternoons each week. Other services will include a weekly Bible study and a women’s ministry group.

At the ceremony Jeff Phillips, Sr. Vice President of Carr-Gottstein Food Company, and Gary Hansen of Kraft Foods presented Divisional Commander Major Terry Griffin with a check for $2,500. Phillips commented on how pleased the company is to be a part of this program, which ties in directly with their company philosophy–battling against hunger in the community.

James Patlan, president of the Mt. View Action Committee, voiced the support of the community, stating, “We will stand behind and work alongside The Salvation Army to make this program a success.”
