The annual World Day of Prayer took place March 3. Each year, on the first Friday in March, Christian women in more than 170 countries unite to observe a common day of prayer. The celebration encourages people in affirming their faith in Jesus Christ and in sharing their hopes, fears, joys, sorrows and needs, as well as providing a multicultural opportunity as Christians from different nations share in worship.
Salvationists participated in the event, themed Sign Of the Times—chosen by women from South Africa, who hoped to inspire the world to follow Jesus, healer of the sick.
Themes for future World Days of Prayer include United Under God’s Tent (2007), God’s Wisdom Provides New Understanding (2008) and In Christ, There are Many Members, Yet One Body (2009).
