The Salvation Army is assisting victims of Peru’s recent 8.1 magnitude earthquake, providing food, water, shelter, comfort and counseling.

According to reports, more than 70 were killed, 1,200 injured, and 20,000 left homeless.

The Army’s ministry in Peru includes an administrative headquarters, a medical clinic, children’s day care facilities, a hostel, schools and student residences.

The Army’s international emergency services office is also assessing the needs of disaster victims and the Army’s ability to respond to those needs, both immediately and for the longer term.
