New facility is now open in Ashland, Ohio.

The weekend of April 17, Ashland, Ohio unveiled its new Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center—the first Kroc Center to open in the Eastern Territory—culminating more than 1,400 days of planning and praying and 500 days of construction. Majors Lawrence and JoAnn Shade are directors of the center.

The 43,000-square-foot facility will offer an indoor soccer field, a fun zone, an outdoor “spray” (water) park, an education wing for all ages, and a chapel framed in stained glass by Kessler Studios of Loveland, Ohio.

Commissioners Lawrence R. and Nancy A. Moretz, territorial leaders, conducted the dedication ceremony. Joining them were Divisional Leaders Majors William and Lorraine Bamford, the New York Staff Band, and the Territorial Arts Ministry Team.

The weekend began on Friday night with a recognition reception for the capital campaign supporters who raised almost $3.4 million for the facility’s furnishings and endowment fund.
